Several state governments have declared a holiday for their employees on January 22, 2024, to enable them to participate in the celebrations for the inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Additionally, the Central Government has announced a half-day off for all Central Government offices and institutions. As a result, public sector banks will be closed for half of the day. Moreover, in certain states, all banks will remain closed for the entire day on this occasion.


Will Banks Be Closed on January 22?

 

According to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release dated January 18, the celebration of the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, will be observed nationwide. In light of this, to allow employees to participate in the festivities, the decision has been made to close all Central Government Offices, Central Institutions, and Central Industrial Establishments across India for half a day until 2:30 pm on January 22, 2024. It is strongly advised that all Ministries/Departments of the Government of India communicate this decision to the relevant parties.


According to a news report by PTI, this announcement implies that public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and regional rural banks will be closed for half a day until 2:30 pm on January 22, 2024, in view of the consecration ceremony for the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
